Plein Air - On the Town

Instructor: Rich Ford

Rich Ford is coordinating plein-air painting in four locations throughout the Springfield area: Lincoln Memorial Gardens, Washington Botanical Garden, Starhill Forest Arboretum and  New Salem State Park will be included. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the change of season and paint with fellow artists.

Wednesdays: Sept 18 - Oct  9 - 9am-12pm

Ages: 16+

Your Art, Our Studio  

No instructor

Bring your own supplies. Work independently in the newly refurbished, well-lit classroom.

Tuesdays:  Sept 24 - Nov 12—9am-12pm

Introduction to Pottery

Instructor: Roland Folse

The Prairie Art Alliance is excited to offer this new ceramic class. Students will be exposed to multiple techniques in ceramics including wheel throwing, hand building, and glazing. Materials, equipment and a library are available. Classes will be held at the instructor’s home studio. Limited to 6 students.

Drawing

Instructor: Joan Beeman

Ever want to get back into the joy of doing artwork? Join our casual, friendly group and learn the basic techniques of drawing, or sharpen the skills you have not used for awhile. We will study through class demonstrations and exercise proportion, contour, value, and perspective. We will use both dry and wet media. Subject matter will include still life, hands and feet, photo references and class model. Basic materials for this class are an 18" x 24" sketchbook, pencil, and kneaded eraser. Additional optional supplies will be discussed in first class.

Tuesdays: Nov. 5, 12, 19, 26 -- 4:30 - 7 pm

Draw and Paint What I Do

Instructor: Joan Beeman

This class is designed for your young child to create original drawings, paintings, and a 3-dimensional project. Your child will learn to create from life experiences without relying on coloring books or copy materials. Children draw and paint with emotion which can be a very exciting experience for them as they mix colors, and express their feelings through color. Parents or grandparents are encouraged to accompany the child. We will have a 10 minute break time with a small snack in class. 

Saturdays: Nov 9, 16, 23 & Dec 7 - 10 am-12 pm
